| On Friday, June 12, members of Ridge VFD took Engine 41 to Colonial Beach, Virginia, to take part in the Colonial Beach VFD’s 75th Annual Fireman’s Parade, held as part of the Potomac River Festival. Recognized as the Nation’s Loudest Fireman’s Parade, the event allows fire and EMS units to use warning devices, including lights, air horns, and sirens, along the parade route. Departments from Westmoreland, Stafford, and Spotsylvania counties in Virginia, as well as St. Mary’s, Calvert, and Charles counties in Maryland, joined the parade.
A dedicated group of Ridge VFD members spent many hours preparing Engine 41 for the event. Their efforts were rewarded with a 3rd Place Engine Company award. Despite hot weather, rain, and the possibility of severe thunderstorms, the streets of Colonial Beach were filled with spectators cheering and encouraging participants to make noise. The parade was loud, crowded, and memorable.
Ridge VFD congratulates Colonial Beach VFD on its successful 75th anniversary parade and appreciates the opportunity to participate in the celebration. |
