By Firefighter / EMT-B David Morris
June 25, 2010

At 2156, Companies 4, 14, 3, 9, 6, 49, 39 and ALS were alerted to Lawrence Street, in the 4-03 box, for the reported house fire with subjects trapped. Shortly after the dispatch, Engines 43 (Capt. Raley), 141, 33, 91, Tanker 4 (Engineer Wood), Truck 3, Command 4 (Chief 4B Mercure) and Chief 3 (Gould) were all on the air. Shortly after, Engines 44 (Engineer Morrison), 63, 32, Tower 9, Ambulances 497 & 388, Utility 49 (Chief Gatton) and Medic 391 were responding.
Engine 141 arrived on the scene first, laid a 3' in from an adjacent driveway and advised of smoke showing on the B/C corner. The crew from Engine 141 advanced a line to the door and began fire attack. Command 4 was next arriving with Chief 4B taking the 'Lawrence Street' command. Engine 43 arrived behind Command 4 and picked the line up, and also took another line off. Engine 141's crew found the occupant and removed her from the residence.
The crews from 43 & 141 began fire attack and were met with fire in the hallway. The crews knocked the fire down and subsequently extinguished fire in an adjoining bedroom. Engine 33 and Truck 3 were next arriving, with Engine 33's crew assisting on extinguishment and Truck 3's crew beginning ventilation and pulling ceilings. Engine 44 arrived next and assisted the truck crew on pulling the ceiling and opening up.
All other units were advised to level two stage on Villa Rd. The patient was checked out by EMS crews from Ridge VRS and refused care. After the attic was opened up and no fire was found, the fire was placed under control, and command held units from Companies 4, 14, 3 and 9, plus the ambulance companies. Shortly thereafter, the incident was scaled back to Engines 43, 141, 33, Truck 3 and Ambulance 497 to assist the fire marshal.
