| On Friday evening, a crew loaded up on the rescue engine and proceeded to the common area at Werring Commons, on the St. Mary's College campus. The purpose of this event was to conduct a lesson and demonstration on the proper usage of a fire extinguisher during an emergency situation.
Capt. Hawkins discussed the two types of most common extinguishers on campus and when to use them. After a brief discussion and overview, the students were taught PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep). To be sure that the students understood how to use this, a demonstration was set up in the common area where the students could practice what they learned.
Overall, it was a very productive evening and the students walked away with a certificate of knowledge. The crew consisted of:
Fire Prevention Chairman George Franklin
Capt. Darius Hawkins
FF/EMT Josh Wise
FF/EMT David Morris
