January 8, 2012

At 1346, the Fightin' Four along with Companies 14, 49 and 39 were alerted to the area of Point Lookout Road and Fresh Pond Neck for the motor vehicle accident. Chief 4 (Raley), Captain 4 (Hawkins) and Engine 141 were on the road within seconds of the dispatch. Fireboard relayed further information that two trucks were involved in the middle of the roadway in a head-on style collision

Rescue Engine 42 (Chief 4B Mercure) responded with 8, followed behind shortly by Engine 43 (Chief 4A Raley) with an additional 5. Captain 4 arrived on location and advised of two vehicles still in the roadway with three injured. At this time, Chief 4 arrived on location and established the command and reported no entrapment. Rescue Engine 42 arrived on location with Chief 4B taking the operations.

After further assessment by the crews from the Rescue Engine and Company 49, it was determined that two patients would need to be transported to St. Mary's Hospital with one patient signing a refusal. Ambulance 496 transported one patient priority 2 and Ambulance 497 transported one priority 3 while also obtaining a signed refusal.
