On Tuesday evening, March 27. 2012, Girl Scout troop 6095 visited the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department. We gave them the grand tour. Bradley Cooper showed them our apparatus, and described each compartment with its inventory of tools and equipment. David Morris demonstrated his personal protective equipment, while Donte Blackwell described each piece. SPARKY paid the girls a surprise visit and handed out fire helmets, weepfuls, school kits and posed for photos with the kids. We than dropped by the boat house and saw Boat 4, the Fire Prevention trailer and our training dummy. We stopped in the kitchen and showed them all the equipment and explained what an important role our Ladies Auxiliary plays in our fund raising projects. We capped off the evening with a ride on Engine 42. The girls were very interested in fire prevention and safey tips. They were a well behaved group and curious, asking many questions.
Members attending were Engineer Bradley Cooper, Firefighters David Morris, Donte Blackwell, George Franklin and Associate Frieda Franklin.
