On Thursday, April 19, 2012, the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department assisted the Dameron Day Care Center with their fire drill. This took place at the new facility located at the St. James hall on Three Notch Rd. Mrs Norris the proprietor had an escape plan posted and it worked out well. The pull station worked and proper doors were utilized. 14 pre schoolers exited thru the south door and 5 infants were exited thru the main entrance by 7 adults. They proceeded to their meeting place at the south end of the parking area. The entire building was evacuated in 3 minutes, jast as Engine 43 entered the parking area. A hose was advanced to front entrance by 2 firefighters. We then checked out the plan and everything was in order. Staff members were made aware of the need for the rug at the main entrance to be cleared by whomever pulled the alarm. This would facilitate moving of the cribs out that door.
Members attending the exercise were: Vice President James Raley, Firefighters David Morris, Donte Blackwell and George Franklin.
