By Firefighter / EMT-B David Morris
May 7, 2012

At approximately 0758, Companies 4, 14, 49 and 39 along with Squad 3 and the duty medic were alerted to the area of Villa Road and Grayson Road for the reported motor vehicle accident with a vehicle on fire.

Command 4 (Chief 4 Raley), Rescue Engine 42 (Chief 4A Raley), Engine 43 (Chief 4B Mercure) marked up shortly after dispatch with eleven personnel. Engine 141, Squad 3, Ambulances 497, 399, 388 and Medic 1 also responded. At 0801; Lt 4 (Ridgell) arrived on scene and advised of a two vehicle collision with one vehicle well off. After checking on the injuries, Lt 4 held Companies 4, 14, 49, 39 and the medic unit.

Engine 141 arrived on location first and began knocking the fire on the truck. Ambulance 497 and Rescue Engine 42 were next arriving, with both units beginning patient care and Lt. Ridgell establishing the "Villa Rd" command. Chief 4 arrived on scene assuming the command shortly after.

After assessment by EMS, it was determined both patients would be signed refusals. With that, command held Ambulance 497 only and returned the second BLS unit and the duty medic. Shortly after, Engine 43 arrived on scene and began traffic control duties. Shortly after the arrival of police, command was terminated and units went ready.
