On Wednesday morning, October 24, 2012, the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department fire prevention team towed the trailer to Lexington Park, Md. Here we got the opportuinity to reach out to 49 students and 8 adults. This was their first exposure to Fire Prevention. We opened up with the DVD "Be Rabbit Ready, know two ways out". They just loved this video and music and cartoon characters. We followed up with questions and with emphasis on the main theme "Know two ways out". We then showed them how to escape out of the simulated burning bedroom and down the escape ladder and to their assigned meeting place. They were a good group and were rewarded with a bag of fire prevention handouts and a fire helmet.
Members attending were Life members James Raley, Peggy Vallandingham, Snookie Raley, Auxiliary member Mary Wise, Associate member Frieda Franklin and Firefighter George Franklin.
