RVFD congratulates the members who recently completed the sixteen-hour boat mate class conducted by Maritime Training Resources. Led by Instructor Mike Smith, and assisted by Lois Stephenson, the course work included reading charts, navigation, communications, knots, general boating knowledge, and specific information relative to Boat 4. The classroom instruction was combined with practical exercises on Boat 4 at St. Mary’s City. Members from Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad joined RVFD to complete this requirement.
