On a very hot July day, the Ridge Volunteer Fire Prevention team took the Fire Prevention Trailer to the "Kids Summer Camp" sponsored by the Calvert County Sheriff's Department. It was held at Company 3 in Solomons Island, Maryland. There were stations set up demonstrating different skills. It was attended by approximately eighty middle school students from Calvert County. These youngsters were led by mentors from the Sheriff's Dapartment and were exposed to the emergency services provided to the community. Some of these students may show an interest in these fields and pursue them as they mature.
