Between approximately 23:00 hours Thursday October 11, 2018 and 12:30 hours Friday October 12, 2018, Ridge VFD units responded to a total of 18 calls due to high winds and heavy rain from remnants of Tropical Storm Michael. Wind gusts, that in some areas reported to exceed 60 mph, caused numerous trees to fall across roadways and homes in the First District. Ridge Volunteers manned chainsaws throughout the night to keep local roads passable for traffic. Numerous roads were flooded and had to be shut down until the water succeeded. A few electric lines were reported down as well. Members manned the station all night to make sure each call was covered. No injuries were reported from the storm.
