Vehicle off the Roadway - St. Mary’s City

4-01 Box, 6:40 p.m.- Squad 4 and Engine 43 were dispatched to the area of 17171 Point Lookout Road in St. Mary’s City for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries. Chief 39B arrived shortly after and found a vehicle off the roadway in the water. One patient was identified with a possible broken leg.

Engine 141 confirmed the vehicle was off the roadway on the opposite side of a pedestrian foot bridge, located in a swamp area. Squad 4 joined Engine 141 in gaining access to the patient, providing initial care, and safely removing the individual from the swamp using a stokes basket.

Due to the nature of the patient’s injuries, he was airlifted to a nearby trauma center for further treatment. All units cleared the scene at 7:21 p.m.
