On 7/23 shortly after 1230, as some members were in Baltimore enjoying the Firehouse Expo, area box 4-03 was alerted to Heritage Hill Ct for the gas leak in a residence. Rescue Engine 42 and Tanker 4 responded, along with the rest of the assignment. Engine 141 and the Rescue Engine arrived together and advised of nothing evident. After further investigation, it was determined to be a good intent call and units were returned to service.
At 1441 on 7/24, the woods fire was alerted just before the main entrance to Point Lookout State Park. Fireboard advised they had taken a few calls reporting that the woods were well off. Jeep 4, Brush 4 and Tanker 4 (Capt. Keister) all responded shortly after the dispatch. Chief 4B (Mercure) was first arriving advising of an approximate 20x40 foot area that was off. The Jeep and Brush truck arrived on scene and put a quick stop on the fire, and shortly there after a 1 3/4" hose line was utilized off of the tanker to extinguish the fire.
At 2119 that night, the brush fire assignment was once again alerted to the area of the main entrance at Point Lookout State Park. Brush 4 (Capt. Raley), Jeep 4 (FF/EMT Langley), Tanker 4 (Engineer Morrison) and Chief 4B (Mercure) all responded soon after the dispatch. Chief 4B arrived on scene shortly after the dispatch and advised that it wasn't a fire, just a small smoldering area and held the Jeep and Brush truck.
On 7/25 at 1539, Water Rescue Box 4 was alerted in the Chesapeake Bay in the area of Point Lookout State Park for the reported boat in distress. MSU-4 with Boat 4 (FF. A Raley) marked up and was advised that a boat with four people on board had their engine fail. After receiving coordinates, it was determined that the boat was in the area of Cornfield Harbor. Shortly after Boat 4 launching, they were placed in service by Coast Guard, who assisted them.
At 1718, Water Rescue Box 6 was alerted in the area of St. George's Creek for the reported raft sinking with approximately seven people on board. Boat 4 (Chief 4B Mercure) made the response shortly after dispatch. After launching at St. Mary's College, Boat 4 made contact with the Coast Guard who advised they were in the area searching for the raft. The Coast Guard then advised they had the subjects who were OK. With that, Chief 6 placed the box in service.
As MSU-4 was returning, a member came to the station and advised that there was something on fire on Bennett Court, just behind the firehouse. With a crew at the station, Engine 43 (FF Gerek) left immediately to investigate. After arriving, Engine 43 alerted Fireboard to start the brush fire extending into two trailers. The crew from 43 deployed a booster reel and a 1 3/4" crosslay. At this time, Fireboard began the dispatch. The crew put a quick stop on the fire before it was able to reach the trailers. Jeep 4 (Capt Raley), Tanker 4 (Engineer Morrison), Brush 4 (Chief 4B Mercure) arrived and began supplying 43 and assisting with extinguishment. Engine 44 (Safety Officer Raley) arrived next and assisted with overhaul. Within five minutes of arrival, Command (Chief 4A Raley) placed the fire out and held all units on the scene for mop up. The crew from Jeep 4 and Engine 43 checked the trailers for extension and found none. With that, the crew racked up and returned to service.
