Ridge VFD Firefighters honored at their "day jobs"

Ten Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River Firefighters/EMTs were honored for their part in a recent ambulance call where the life of a victim was saved because of their skills and hard work. Firefighter Darius Hawkins (RVFD Capt.) received a Certificate of Life Saving from Capt. Stephen Schmeiser, NAS Patuxent River base Commanding Officer in a ceremony at Fire Station 1 on Nov. 8, 2011. Other firefighters receiving a Certificate for Life Saving include Chris Hammett, Ray Currie, Ronald Johnson, Matthew Spalding and Robert Wahrenbrock. Four others received a Certificate of Special Achievement for their support during the event, including Fire Captain Thomas Trossbach (RVFD Firefighter/EMT), and Firefighters Ronald Alvey, Ralph Gue and Christopher Worthington-May.
