RVFD Well Represented at SMVFA 67th Convention

Ridge Volunteer Fire Department brought home several awards from the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen’s Association’s 67th convention. RVFD once again brought home the W. David Gott Memorial Fire Prevention Award, and Board of Director George Franklin won an individual award for his fire prevention efforts. Safety Officer Phillip Cooper was awarded the Frank R. Cotrufo, Jr. Memorial Safety Award for his efforts on behalf of the department.

Member Phillip “Heavy” Ridgell was nominated and voted in as Treasurer for SMVFA, while SMVFA Treasurer John Wathen moved up to 2nd Vice President.

Joseph H. Raley, Franklin “Dickie” Wood, and Phillip Cooper were all recognized for completing 50 years of service with the department. Chief Bruce Raley was one of ten people from the tri-county area to be inducted into the SMVFA Hall of Fame.

On Sunday, 27 April, beautiful weather awaited the parade. RVFD won best Command Unit and second place for 1250 pumper Engine 43.
