The Ridge Volunteer Fire Department visited PAX RIVER on Saturday, April 26, 2014. A team of fire prevention specialists utilized its Fire Prevention trailer to make citizens aware of the many hazards involved in the home and how to recognize them before they became victims. Our DVD emphasized that things do not cause fires, but people do. The importance of working smoke detectors, home fire escape plans and how to crawl low below the smoke to escape were some other important safety tips demonstrated. The base fire & rescue units also took part in demonstrations. Set up inside the Navy Exchange were many displays of community related organizations that assist military families in many ways. SPARKY also made an appearance to the delight of the children and adults alike.
Members attending were: Vice President James Raley, Life members Snookie Raley, Peggy Vallandingham, Auxiliary member Frieda Franklin, Mary Wise and Fire fighter George Franklin
