Fire Prevention Day at St. Michael's School

October 13, 2014

The Ridge VFD fire prevention team visited the St. Michael's School on Tuesday, October 7th. We opened our fire prevention trailer to the students from Pre K thru 3rd grade. We were allowed 2 hours, but unfortunately we were unable to finish on time. No students were left behind as we worked the additional classes in the afternoon. "Working smoke alarms save lives" was our lesson for the day and escaping from a simulated fire was requested by the students. The students loved feeling the heated door and escaping thru the window.
The students received fire prevention materials, fire helmets, pencils, pens, magnets and coloring books.
Members attending were James Raley, Vice President, Joe Cooper, Life Member, Snookie Raley, Peggy Vallandingham Life members, Frieda Franklin, Mary Wise, Auxiliary members and George Franklin Fire fighter.
