The Girl Scout Troop #319, led by Kay Jahn visited the home of the Fightn' Four on Tuesday evening. Fire Prevention Chairman, George Franklin welcomed them and introduced them to the rest of the fire prevention team. He alerted them to be aware of the possibility of an emergency happening while they were in the building.
If so, they were to stay in a group and away from the apparatus until the firefighters were underway. Former Chief and Life member Joe Cooper then took them for a tour of Engine 43. Showing most all of the compartments and tools with a brief explanation of how and what they were used for, he also explained the importance of the engineer's role. All of the apparatus were visited and the girls were told how they differed from Engine 43. We then went to the boat house to see Boat 4, the Fire Prevention trailer, our Christmas tree and the many trophies on display. We than went to the kitchen and I explained the important role our Ladies Auxiliary plays in supporting us with fund raising events. Upon returning, Firefighter Karen Raley donned her turnout gear, while Joe Cooper described each piece. Karen continued into the radio room, explaining how the new 911 active program works, the cascade system is used for refilling air tanks and last but not least the members lounge.
