COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION PROGRAM

On May 16, 2015, this statewide program kicked off. The Ridge Volunteer Fire Department's Fire Prevention Committee met and came up with a plan. We determined that our goal would be to reach out to our senior and needy citizens located in our First Due Area.We put out some flyers at St. Michael's Thrift Shop and at the food pantries at the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and the First Saint Community Church in Ridge, Md. The flyers generated quite a few prospects from our citizens who were in need of attention to their smoke detectors. Two teams consisting of: Snooky and James Raley, Joe Cooper and George Franklin responded to these requests. These citizens were mostly seniors who needed help and were very appreciative of our service. I want to thank all of the following for their participation in this team effort to get this job done. Snooky and James Raley, Joe Cooper, Margie Cooper, Mary Wise, Peggy Vallandingham, Karen Raley and Frieda Franklin. A special thanks to our Fire Chief, Bruce Raley for procuring these detectors from St. Mary's Lighting in Lexington Park, Md.
We plan on making this an ongoing program and hope thru word of mouth that it will extend into our early fire prevention coverage.
