On Wednesday, July 8, the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department was invited to participate in the Calvert County camp for kids. The Solomon's Volunteer Rescue and Fire Department hosted the event at their quarters. We towed the Fire Prevention Trailer there with Utility 4A. It was one of those very warm and humid days. The kids were broken down into fire different groups each having their own colored tee shirts. Various stations were set up for them to visit and learn different safety tips. These included fire extinguishers, water supply, flowing water from a hand line, CPR, first aid and of course smoke detectors and fire escape plans. Each group had a mentor and their presence helped greatly in keeping our guest's attention. They were very well behaved.
Member attending were Vice President, James Raley, former chief Joe Cooper and Firefighter George Franklin.
