3-09 Box, 14:55 - Tanker 4, Brush 4 and Jeep 4 responded to 47452 Sewell Road in Hermanville to assist Bay District VFD with a large brush fire. Units operated for 5 hours to contain the fire. Tanker 4 assisted with water supply. Jeep 4 and Brush 4 were utilized in the areas least accessible. Nearby homes were saved as well as a nearby trailer park. A total of 28 acres were burned. A County Wide "all call" for all available units was called during the operations due to the fire spreading quickly. Fire Departments from St. Mary's, Charles and Calvert Counties worked together to extinguish the fire. Forestry and private contractors assisted with bulldozers to cut fire lines. The fire is under investigation.
