Ridge VFD firefighters gathered last evening for our monthly training drill. This month we worked on our rescue/extrication skills; stabilization, cribbing, air bags, and Hurst tools. The focus was safe and proper tool use, precision work, crew communications, and teamwork. While this served as a great refresher for our senior members, it also was the first time some of our new members have seen these tools in use. We had two donated cars to work with; one for extrication operations, the other for stabilization operations. Members practiced various techniques of cutting and cribbing cars to ensure firefighter and occupant safety during rescue ops.
