| Ridge VFD is proud to announce that our department and members were recognized with multiple prestigious honors at the 2026 Maryland State Firefighters Association’s (MSFA) 134th Convention & Conference in Ocean City.
Highlights from the June 23rd conference include: • Outstanding Act of Heroism: Chief Bradley Cooper was awarded the prestigious George W. Colburn, Jr. Colburn Cup. • Statewide Excellence: Ridge VFD tied for 1st Place Overall in Maryland for our Fire Prevention program. • Leadership & Service Nominations: Firefighters recognized as state-level nominees: - Firefighter Holton Bickel - Past President C. Oscar Baker Rookie of the Year Award. - Firefighter Lilly Keister - William E. “Rudy” Radisch Firefighter of The Year Memorial Award. - Firefighters Holton Bickel and Kermit Tillett - Next Generation Leadership Award.
These accolades reflect the tireless dedication, bravery, and professionalism our volunteers bring to the community every day. Seeing them recognized at the state level is incredible. Congratulations to all recipients and nominees.
In addition, On Sunday, June 21st, RVFD members and families attended the Joint Maryland State Firefighters Association (MSFA) and Ladies’ Auxiliary of the MSFA Memorial Service, which honors deceased members of departments across the state. Attendees gathered to remember those who were lost and reflect on their dedication, sacrifice, and service to Maryland’s fire, rescue, and EMS communities. RVFD members memorialized included Mark Coontz, Jr., Leon “Dictator” Cullison, George Gatton, Jr., and Margaret “Peggy” Vallandingham. Gone, but not forgotten. |
