It was a scorcher on Friday, June 8, 2007 at Elms Beach in Dameron, Md. A large group of children from the Jarboe Head Start Center gathered for a picnic, games and fun. A fire prevention crew from the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department delivered about 500 gallons of cooling water in the form of a HOSEDOWN. The kids really loved that spray from the deck gun on Engine 43. James Raley was the gunner, Sam Vallandingham was the engineer, Freda Franklin handed out fire helmets and placed stickers on the kids and George Franklin took the pictures. Everyone enjoyed the themselves.
