| On a beautiful sunny day in July, a crew from the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department visited Camp Brown in Scotland, Maryland. We were invited to participate in their Recreation Community Awareness Day. Some of the youngsters are here for the day and some come down for the week. They enjoy the wonderful rural setting on the Potomac River. They are accompanied by well trained counselors, who are very caring mentors. The camp consists of a large number of individual cabins, a community dining hall, an activity building, an office, a large swimming pool, water slide, bouncer, a fishing pier and boat rides. On this day, parents and dignitaries visited. The Metropolitan Police helicopter, a mounted policewoman and the Fightin' Four gave presentations and displays for the kids. Refreshments and handouts were enjoyed by all.
Our crew consisted of Vice President James Raley, Firefighter George Franklin, Auxiliary Treasurer Freda Franklin and Auxiliary member Snooky Raley. |
