By Firefighter JW Wathen
June 29, 2009

At 11:47, Companies 4, 14, 9, 1, and 49 were alerted for the report of a commercial building fire in the area of 13734 Point Lookout Rd and Wynne Rd in Ridge. Communications advised that the caller reported a debris fire burning close to the structure and was possibly involved. Command 4 arrived on the scene and confirmed the debris fire and reported there was a shed fully involved burning close to the structure. Engine 43 arrived, laying a line from a water source and advancing a hand line to protect the building and a second hand line was pulled to extinguish the fire. Engine 44, Tanker 4, and Engine 143 all arrived shortly after lines were advanced. Tanker 4 and Engine 44 established a secondary water supply and Crews from Engine 143 assisted 43's crews with fire suppression and checking for exposures inside of the building. Engine 42 and Ambulance 497 arrived setting up a RIT team and rehab. Crews inside of Ridge Marina sales advised Command that there was light smoke inside but no fire or extension. Command then placed the responding units in service and held it with what was on scene. Engine 143's crew then set up ventilation fans in the store and the fire was placed under control. Firefighters on the scene then began some light overhaul to hit the hot spots still left. The building was cleared of smoke with little damage.
