By Firefighter JW Wathen
July 1, 2009

Shortly before 2 p.m., the Bay District Volunteers were alerted for the report of an overturned vehicle on Poplar Ridge Road. Upon arrival, Captain 3 reported two patients were found laying in the roadway both being a priority, and their vehicle overturned in the woods. Medical personal then requested a helo to be started category A.

Communications then alerted the Ridge Volunteers to set up a landing zone for Trooper 7. Engine 43 responded moments after dispatch with a total of 5 personal and was advised to set the landing zone at Spring Ridge Middle School. Shortly after Engine 43 arrival, Ambulance 398 was en route from the scene to the landing zone with the patient. Upon Trooper 7's arrival, it was determined the patient could not be stabilized due to combativeness and was unable to be flown out. Both patients were transported to St. Mary's Hospital and units returned to service when ready.
