On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, a crew from the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department proceeded to the Ridge Elementary School and conducted a surprise fire drill. The students, teachers and all of the school personnel responded quickly and in an orderly fashion. They all assembled at their meeting place safely away from the fire scene. Everyone was accounted for and all doors were secured. Company 4's crew consisted of Vice President James Raley, Life member Joe Cooper, Captain Ron Hafner, Firefighters David Morris and George Franklin.
