On a nasty, cold, rainy night, members of the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department conducted a training session indoors. Captain Darius Hawkins gave a demonstration on the proper use of the self contained breathing apparatus. It was a very informative learning curve for the newer firefighters and served as a timely refresher for the older members. It was followed by a hands on maze set up in the smoke filled boat house. Here Captain Hawkins, Lietenant Matt Ridgell and career firefighter Tom Trossbach instructed crews thru the obstacles and gave advice on how to rescue the victim. Their combined experience proved to be very beneficial to the training of the younger firefighters.
