June 16, 2023

4-02 Box, 14:02 - Ridge brush units were dispatched to the 48000 block of Settlers View Way in St. James for the reported outside fire. Dispatch advised responding units that they were taking reports of burnt woodland with some areas smoldering.

Captain 4 arrived shortly after dispatch and established command. He reported that two - three acres had burned with several small hot spot fires still burning. Due to the remote location, only small brush units and UTV's were able to access the fire. Command contacted Dispatch and requested more mutual aid units for manpower.

Chief 4 arrived later and assumed the command and Capt 4 was assigned operations. Crews from Companies 2 (Mechanicsville), 3 (Bay District), 5 (Seventh District), 6 (Valley Lee), 7 (Hollywood) and 14 (NDWFD) worked for several hours cutting paths in the woods to get smaller units in, as well as hitting small hot spots. Forestry arrived and advised command to saturate the area well and they would monitor the area for the remainder of the evening.

Units completed mop up and went in service at 18:05.

Units: Brush 4, Jeep 4, Tanker 4 and Tanker 44

Mutual Aid: Engine 141, Co.2, Co.3, Co.5, Co.6 and Co.7
