Fire Prevention Week 2023 - NDWFD Fire Prevention Week Kick Off Bash

Ridge VFD fire prevention and life safety educators were invited to participate in the Fire Prevention Week Kick Off Bash coordinated by the Naval District Washington Fire Department (NDWFD) at Naval Air Station Patuxent River (NAS Pax River). The Bash, held on October 8th, started off with a Fire/EMS parade through the NAS to the NDWFD Station. Sparky was along for the ride in Engine 41. After the parade, our team set up alongside other fire and life safety participants. Our table was visited by many! We gave out cooking safety information and provided each child with a goodie bag and fire helmet. During the Bash, there was a vehicle extrication demonstration. One of our members jumped in to assist Bay District VFD during this demo. The crowd watched as the firefighters popped doors, cut pillars, and removed the roof of the car. The event was a huge success. We want to thank NDWFD Company 13 and the NDW Fire & Emergency Services Fire Prevention Branch for allowing us the opportunity to participate.
